Background
At 56 years old, Giovanna, a determined woman, reached out to JS Fitness with a primary goal—to cultivate healthier habits, with a particular focus on gaining control over her eating habits and losing weight following the COVID-19 pandemic, during which she had picked up unwanted weight. While consistent exercise was already a part of her routine, the challenge resided in navigating nutrition, mastering the art of consuming the right foods in appropriate portions, and sustaining motivation.
Recognizing the need for a tailored approach, Giovanna embarked on her online coaching journey with JS Fitness in February 2023 to address these aspects.
Challenges
CHALLENGE 1: EATING HABITS
"I was very despondent. I didn’t know what to eat because nothing seemed to be working.”
With an increasing number of individuals now working from home full-time, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, it comes as no surprise that one of the greatest challenges our client faced was sticking to healthy eating while working from home.
The JS Fitness online coaching program provided Giovanna with a personalized eating plan tailored to her unique preferences and requirements to help get her back on track and implement a healthy eating plan. Despite a deviation here and there over the course of her journey (come now, we’re all human!), Giovanna has lost an incredible 12 kilograms since following the JS Fitness eating guidelines.
CHALLENGE 2: LACK OF MOTIVATION
“My outlook toward fitness was the biggest challenge. Going to gym and training, I love doing that. When I was overweight, I did struggle to go to gym and used to go only about three times a week. Now I go at least 6 times a week. My other challenge is pushing myself harder during workouts. I want to be at a fitness level where I feel like I can do anything, where I know I can do more.”
With the support of JS Fitness through weekly check-ins and progress monitoring, Giovanna was able to hold herself accountable and achieve measurable fitness goals. Additionally, one of her favourite things about training with Justin was that he always encouraged her to push herself and strive for more.
“He pushes you and challenges you and that’s what I like.”

Results
In addition to losing a whopping 12 kilograms through consistent exercise and healthy eating, Giovanna’s achievements surpassed merely those related to physical appearance. Not only has Giovanna reported feeling better in her own skin but she has also highlighted numerous benefits related to cognitive function, helping her succeed in both her personal and professional life:
“It makes you feel better about yourself and feel more confident. My concentration levels at work are so much better and I can do 10X more than what I used to be able to do. My sleeping habits have improved. Exercising and eating properly have definitely helped with my reducing my stress levels.”
Additionally, Giovanna reveals that she feels more energetic every day and has achieved an improved fitness level in general:
“When you wake up in the morning, your feeling in the gut is great. You feel great, you feel so much better. Because I’ve lost so much weight, I feel so much more energetic, and I put more effort into doing my exercises. I now have to work harder in order to achieve 80% of my heart rate and achieve my Vitality goals.”
Following her experience with JS Fitness, Giovanna reports having an entirely new (more positive) perspective toward health and fitness, along with having successfully cultivated new habits such as drinking 2 litres of water every day and getting outdoors more often:
“My whole perspective has changed. When I was overweight, I felt very despondent. Now, I’m very happy and enthusiastic about everything. Something I never used to do which I’ve picked up since joining JS Fitness is hiking. I’ve done about 4 or 5 hikes since joining so that is something new for me which adds to the variety of life.”

“Be persistent and don’t give up. If you deviate one day, make sure you get back on track the next day. That works for me and I’m sure it can work for anybody else. He helps you every step of the way with your eating plan and your exercising, and always challenges you.”
